Story Behind

Inspired by the wisdom behind  the folklore of Surabaya:  Laras — the Indonesian word for “harmony.” “Greed and ego disrupt harmony, dimming the light of peace.” This piece portrays a harmonious environment  contrasted by the opposing characters of a shark (Sura), representing cunning, and a crocodile (Baya), symbolizing obedience — both depicted in a single scene.
